EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — New play caller in Tommy Rees, same result for the Browns on the road, thanks in part to two returns for touchdowns by the Jets.
The Browns lost their 13th straight game on the road Sunday, dropping a 27-20 decision to the Jets, who won only their second game of the season to improve to 2-7. The Jets also beat the Bengals before their bye.
Coming out of their bye with a new resolve to finish strong, the Browns fell to 2-7 to put their season in dire straits. The Ravens are coming to town next week, but the Browns have little to play for at this point.
The Jets had conducted a fire sale over their bye, trading away their two best defensive players in All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner and All-Pro defensive tackle Quinnen Williams.
