Mission Memorial Hospital’s emergency department will close overnight Sunday because of a doctor shortage, another in a series of closures plaguing Fraser Health that most recently forced a Halloween night shutdown .
The health authority said the ER will shut at 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, and reopen at 8 a.m. Monday, Nov. 10. Any patients already in emergency at 5 p.m. will be seen by a physician whose shift ends at 11 p.m.
All other services at Mission hospital will continue as normal.
“During the service interruption, emergency-trained nurses will continue to be on site and available to support walk-in patients needing basic care, assist with redirection of care, and/or transfer patients with urgent needs to a neighbouring hospital,” said Fraser Health.
It said it is working with B.C.
