A motorist accused of crashing his ca r nearly head-on into a Portland police car Sunday night in Northeast Portland is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol and reckless driving.

Zachary Kwok Lee, 47, of Portland, was driving a 2008 Toyota Prius east on Northeast Halsey Street when he turned left onto Northeast 129th Place, colliding with the marked Portland police car about 7:15 p.m., police said .

The officer driving the police SUV was not responding to a call and able to brake and slow the speed of the patrol vehicle before the collision, police said. Yet the impact pushed the police SUV into a fence and a car parked in a nearby driveway, according to police.
