LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is decreasing air traffic at four major airports in Texas, including stops in Dallas and Houston, leaving some travelers feeling frustrated.

“I’m not happy, and I know it’s going to get worse over the next few weeks, and for my job, I travel. So, I’m going to be driving to a lot of locations out of state instead of flying,” said Christina, a traveler at the Laredo International Airport (LRD).

Although LRD is not on the list, many travelers have connecting flights through these airports.

The goal of the mandate is to reduce the risk of mistakes from air traffic controllers due to the ongoing U.S. government shutdown. Air traffic facilities have been noticing signs of burnout and pressure on already short-staffed air traffic
