MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Fifteen minutes into Sunday’s matchup with Lehigh at Hope Coliseum, West Virginia had showcased its best traits to lead 35-9.

“The first 15 minutes was probably the best 15 minutes of defense we’ve played,” first-year WVU head coach Ross Hodge said. “Our hand activity was really good and made it hard on them and that led to good offensive flow and transition. Kind of us saw us where we could be at our best.”

The remaining 25 minutes weren’t quite as encouraging for the Mountaineers, though they recorded a 69-47 victory for their largest margin of victory to this point.

West Virginia shot 15 for 28 with five three-pointers in the opening half, and during that time, the Mountaineers had an 18-10 rebounding edge and forced 11 turnovers to build a 42-20 lead at the break
