In a major breakthrough, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has arrested three men linked to the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP) for allegedly plotting a terror attack in Gujarat or elsewhere in India. One of them, a Hyderabad-based doctor, had even attempted to make the lethal poison ricin from castor seeds, the ATS said.
Acting on a tip-off, ATS officers intercepted Dr Ahmed Mohiuddin Syed, 35, near the Adalaj toll plaza on the Ahmedabad–Mehsana highway. He was travelling in a silver Ford Figo.
Based on evidence from his phone, the team later arrested Mohammad Suhail, 23, and Azad Suleman Shaikh, 20, from Banaskantha district.
