GREENVILLE, S.C. —
Veterans Day festivities kicked off early in Greenville, as Fluor Field hosted the "SC Veterans Upstate Salute" event on Sunday.
Families were invited to celebrate our nation's veterans and active-duty first responders with time-honored traditions.
"It's to educate the public, especially, we would love to see our high schools, our middle schools, our elementary schools come to this, because they can learn so much about what we have done and what we have sacrificed for them,” said Sheldon Landgrave, an Army veteran and one of the founders of Upstate Veterans Alliance.
The event also provided a space for veteran-focused organizations and non-profits to raise awareness of how the community can better serve our veterans every day of the year.
