BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) -- Residents in an East Baton Rouge Parish neighborhood will soon decide on whether to renew a local fee that helps fund law enforcement patrols and crime prevention programs.
The South Burbank Crime Prevention and Development District Proposition asks voters to renew an annual parcel fee for an additional four years, starting in 2026 and continuing through 2029.
If approved, the renewal would continue a $100 yearly fee for each home or business and a $25 annual fee per unit for multi-unit properties such as apartments or condominiums, the proposal said.
The proposal stated that the fee is expected to generate approximately $270,000 per year and would be allocated toward crime prevention, security patrols, and the establishment of a crime-free housing
