Thousands of pounds of food went to those still suffering from the negative impacts of the federal government shutdown in Volusia County this weekend.
The Volusia County Sheriff's Office, the Jewish Federation of Daytona Beach and other local partners came together for a two-day distribution event that fed nearly 5,000 households.
Hundreds of people gathered at the Daytona International Speedway to pack boxes, load trucks and fill tables with food.
From students to seniors, volunteers spent the day making sure no one in their community went hungry.
It's the kind of generosity that reminds people they're not alone even in the toughest of times.
