London, Nov 10: In a major shake-up at Britain’s national broadcaster, BBC Director-General Tim Davie and News CEO Deborah Turness have resigned following controversy over the editing of a speech made by former US President Donald Trump.
The BBC faced backlash for allegedly misrepresenting Trump’s January 6, 2021 speech — delivered before the Capitol riot — in a “Panorama” documentary. Critics said the program omitted Trump’s call for his supporters to protest “peacefully,” portraying instead a more aggressive tone.
