BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Louisiana will implement closed-party primaries for all federal elections and elections for the state Supreme Court, Public Service Commission, and BESE starting next year, meaning voters can only vote for candidates affiliated with their registered party.
Voters registered as no-party will have to pick a primary to vote in under the new system.
Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser has been an outspoken critic of the shift, saying it changes a system that has worked for Louisiana for decades.
