A fire broke out this afternoon at the L & L Drive Inn on South Kamehameha Highway, prompting a swift response from the Honolulu Fire Department.

Eleven units with 39 personnel responded to the 3 p.m. call, arriving within minutes to find smoke coming from the roof and occupants evacuating.

Crews had water on the fire by 3:09 p.m. and fully extinguished it by 3:29 p.m. No injuries were reported, and no one was found inside the building

Crews conducted overhaul operations to ensure the fire hadn’t spread to hidden areas. HFD reminded residents of the importance of working smoke alarms and closing bedroom doors at night to slow fire spread.
