In the space of 14 deliveries, Akash Choudhary ensured his name would be taken in the same breath as that of legendary Gary Sobers and Ravi Shastri. Akash, an all-rounder who represents Meghalaya in the Indian domestic circuit, produced a blinder of an innings during a Ranji Trophy Plate clash with Arunachal Pradesh in Surat to etch his name in cricket history.

He became just the third cricketer in first-class history after Sobers and Shastri to hit six sixes in a row, and didn’t stop at that.

After smacking left-arm spinner Limar Dabi for 36 runs in an over, he continued to assault to hit sixes off the next two deliveries he faced as well and made it an unprecedented eight sixes in a row.

In doing so, Akash blasted an 11-ball fifty – the quickest in FC history.
