ONE of the longest-running cases in Tamworth court has resolved after 18 months, after the final accused man admitted to a terrifying break-in and fire.
Shane Kirk Hearne will face sentencing later this year after admitting to his role on the night a woman was set upon, before she was stabbed and her home was deliberately torched in Spring Ridge, near Gunnedah, last year.
Police and other emergency services were called to a home on Kingston Street in the village just after 10.30pm on March 5, 2024, and found a woman in her late 50s suffering stab wounds, while her home was set alight.
She was hospitalised with serious injuries, and several people were charged in the wake of a police investigation, code-named Strike Force Leie.
Hearne, who has been in custody since August 2024, lost
