DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - The Northeastern Minnesota Book Awards hosted its annual ceremony in support of local authors of all genres.

21 authors were nominated across four categories.

The award ceremony started in 1988. But it has been hosted by the Lake Superior Writers, a volunteer-based organization, has been hosting the event since 2021.

Writers said that at times, their job can feel isolating. So, it’s not only exciting to be nominated for an award, but also to meet with their peers.

“It’s challenging to stay focused and feel like you’re an author, like you feel a little bit of imposter syndrome,” said nominated author Rowan Eira. “But then again, I feel like that makes the community and these events that much more important.”
