LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Our colder stretch of weather has arrived and you’ll definitely want to keep the jacket and coat handy as you step out the door.

Most locations are back into the upper 30s and lower 40s this morning, but with the wind chill it feels more like the lower 30s.

Even with plenty of sunshine today, temperatures will be slow to climb as we are back into the upper 50s to near 60 degrees.

Winds will remain elevated and with the lower humidity it has us under an increased fire danger as a Red Flag Warning is in place, meaning that burning anything is high discouraged.

Clear skies and calmer winds settle in for the overnight and that is going to lead to an even colder night as we move into Tuesday morning.
