BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - The next time you head to the grocery store, you could see less organic food on the shelves as some farms and processors are choosing not to get certified this year.

Douglas Becker is spending his golden years brewing basement wine.

“One of my favorite things to do is just tinker and repair things. It gives me a lot of joy,” said Becker.

His Montpelier cellar is decked out with homemade-jerry rigged pulley systems and a whole bunch of bottles.

“I had so much wine and I couldn’t drink it myself, and my son was like ‘Dad, you need to start selling this and we decided to do it organically, and I’m really glad we did,” said Becker.

Becker grows grapes in his backyard vineyard. All he does is prune, mow, and harvest them. His practices follow federal organic rules,
