BOARDMAN A Boardman-based luxury furniture retailer and the Ohio attorney general have been ordered to a formal mediation conference, marking a new phase in a civil lawsuit alleging the company defrauded hundreds of customers.
Mahoning County Common Pleas Judge Maureen A. Sweeney scheduled the required settlement negotiation between the State of Ohio, Burke Decor LLC, and company founder Erin Elizabeth Burke for Feb. 26.
The Attorney General’s Office filed the lawsuit on March 19, on behalf of consumers who claim they paid for high-end furniture that was never delivered or for which they had trouble obtaining refunds.
Mediation is a structured, private negotiation conducted outside a public courtroom. The two sides, the State of Ohio, representing consumers, and Burke Décor, will meet
