Asylum seekers could be offered £100 a week to leave hotels under plans reportedly considered by the Labour Government . ‌

Prime Minister Keir Starmer has promised to close asylum hotels by 2029 amid concerns over cost and a public backlash over the policy . ‌

A recent report by Westminster’s Home Affairs committee blasted the “failed, chaotic and expensive” system . ‌

Around 32,000 asylum seekers, around a third of the total number, are currently accommodated in 210 hotels across the UK.

But around three quarters of the cost of asylum accommodation is spent on hotels and protests have taken place around the UK.
