LOUISVILLE, Ky. – UPS and FedEx have grounded portions of their fleets following a deadly crash at a Kentucky cargo hub, and federal regulators have ordered inspections of the same aircraft model. The move could have ripple effects on shipments through Houston and other major cargo hubs as the holiday rush begins.
Federal aviation officials issued an order Saturday for McDonnell Douglas MD-11 planes not to be flown pending further inspection, reinforcing cargo carriers’ decision to ground their fleets following a deadly crash at the UPS global aviation hub in Kentucky.
