A dog was found abandoned on a rural back road, with his rescuers quickly deducing the heartbreaking reason why.
Emily Radecki, the co-founder and director of Shining Light Animal Rescue , a home-based, family-run rescue located in Southern Illinois, has an old saying when it comes to abandoned pups. "Lost dogs run, but dumped dogs stay," she told Newsweek . "Often, the dogs left behind wait right where they were abandoned, not understanding that no one is coming back—it’s absolutely heartbreaking."
That is what makes Radecki suspect that Murdock was most likely abandoned by his previous owner. "He came to us after a plea for help from a family in rural Southern Illinois who found him standing in the middle of a back road," she said. "They took him in, and we answered the call."
