KINSTON, N.C. (WITN) - A man is in jail on drug charges after a traffic stop in Kinston.
On Thursday, Kinston police officers say they stopped 48-year-old Ontario Washington in a car on Carey Road for motor vehicle violations.
During the stop, officers said they had reasonable suspicion of drug activity and asked the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit for assistance.
The K9 performed an open-air sniff and indicated to law enforcement that drugs were in the car.
A search turned up 135 grams of cocaine, according to officials.
Kinston police also got a warrant to search Washington’s home, where they found drug paraphernalia and three guns.
Washington was charged with the following:
Five counts of trafficking in cocaine
Possession of a firearm by a felon
Maintaining a dwelling/ve
