A Harrisburg community activist and former mayoral candidate was named as a potential witness in court documents filed against a Carlisle woman whose daughter fatally overdosed on fentanyl in 2023.
An affidavit of probable cause filed by the Cumberland County District Attorney’s Office last week said Annjalee Nunez had a folder in Facebook Messenger labeled “Tone Cook chats.” The DA charged Nunez, 27, with third-degree murder.
County detectives confirmed the Tone Cook named in the messages was the same Cook who leads the anti-gun violence non-profit Michael’s Memory/PUSH and ran for Harrisburg mayor during last year’s primary.
Nunez, 27, was charged on Nov. 5 with third-degree murder in connection with the Jan. 10, 2023, death of her 2-year-old daughter, Ivory Nunez.
