During the third quarter of the game, Trendon Watford received a pass and drove toward the rim. Jalen Duren stepped in front to defend, causing Watford to pass the ball to the 76ers’ big man, Andre Drummond.

Duren expected Thompson to make the next rotation to cover Drummond, but Thompson arrived late. This allowed Drummond to score an easy layup. After the basket, a heated exchange took place between Duren and Thompson, during which Durant started shouting at Thompson.
