Jury selection is expected to begin Monday in the trial of Cuban rapper Chocolate MC, who faces charges of allegedly soliciting a murder-for-hire plot to kill an inmate charged in the murder of singer El Taiger .

According to court documents, Chocolate MC, whose real name is Yosvanis Sierra Hernández, faces charges of written threats to kill or cause bodily harm and soliciting first-degree murder.

The prosecution alleged that in December 2024, Sierra Hernández threatened Damián Valdés Galloso, who is accused of murdering Cuban reggaeton artist José Manuel Carbajal Zaldívar, also known as El Taiger.

According to prosecutors, Sierra Hernández also allegedly solicited, encouraged or hired inmates from the Miami-Dade County Correctional System to kill Valdés Galloso.
