A left-leaning senator has drawn a conclusion from the shutdown, which is certain to infuriate many progressives — standing up to President Donald Trump doesn’t work.

In an interview on Monday, Sen. Angus King (I-ME) — who caucuses with the Democrats — explained his vote to help end the government shutdown .

“Why did you decide to vote with Republicans to open the government?” Scarborough said.
