A former Branstable High School custodian has been found guilty of resisting arrest and interfering with a police officer after an incident during a lockdown at the high school in 2024, according to the Cape Cod Times.
On Nov. 6, a jury at the Barnstable District Court found Gerard Lopes, 65, guilty of two of the three charges levied against him, finding him not guilty of disorderly conduct.
Lopes was sentenced to one year of probation and to complete an anger management program, according to the Cape Cod Times.
On March 22, 2024, police responded to a report that a student at Barnstable High School was having a mental health crisis on the roof. A school resource officer was talking to the student with hopes of getting them down, according to the Cape Cod Times.
