Donald Trump made history on Sunday, becoming the first sitting president in nearly a half-century to attend a regular-season NFL game. He watched the Washington Commanders lose 44-22 to the visiting Detroit Lions.

Loud booing by spectators in the stands — along with scattered cheers — could be heard when the president appeared on the videoboard late in the first half while standing in a suite with House Speaker Mike Johnson, and again when he was introduced by the stadium announcer at halftime, ABC News reported.

The jeers continued as Trump read an oath for military members to recite during an on-field enlistment ceremony held during a break in the game.

The president had arrived at the stadium after the game had started, according to the Guardian.
