Police are investigating the death of a 55-year-old man in Ansonia.

Police said they responded to a residence on Prindle Avenue around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday to conduct a welfare check and they found 55-year-old Carlos Gonzalez dead inside.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy and the cause of Gonzalez's death is pending further studies, but it does not appear that there are any suspicious circumstances regarding his death, according to police.

Gonzalez was the only resident of the home.
