COLUMBIA, S.C. — The holidays are officially underway at the South Carolina State House as the state’s Christmas tree arrived in Columbia Monday.
This year’s tree is a 35-foot Norway spruce from Henderson Tree Farms outside of Morganton, North Carolina. The tree was delivered by Bruce Vonnle of Timber Tech in Greer.
“We’re thankful to Henderson Tree Farms for helping bring this tradition to life again and to the many hands who make it possible,” said Melissa Prickett of the Columbia Garden Club. “Decorating it is a big, fun, done-in-a-day project.”
Once the tree is secured in its stand, crews will spray it with an anti-desiccant to help preserve its needles through the holiday season. Dominion Energy will then hang more than 13,000 lights and place a large star on top. Volunteers from t
