A second person has attempted to gain asylum in the UK despite having already been sent back to France as part of the mutual “one in, one out” scheme.

The man was identified through his biometric data and will be returned. It comes a week after an Iranian man was returned to France, having arrived in the UK on a small boat a month after he was originally returned.

At least 1,200 migrants crossed the Channel in just three days last week following a break due to bad weather.
