CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Two Cleveland Guardians pitchers are being indicted in federal court for allegedly throwing bad pitches in an ongoing federal illegal gambling probe.

Pitchers Luis Ortiz and Emmanuel Clase were both suspended midway through the MLB season.

Ortiz is expected to appear Monday in Boston.

The accusations are that both pitchers allegedly through balls to start an inning, when major proposition bets were placed on them to do so.

The two pitchers were placed on paid leave this summer three weeks apart.

Clase, the American League leader in saves in 2024, had 24 saves and was 5-3 with a 3.23 ERA this season.

Ortiz, meanwhile, was 4-9 with a 4.36 ERA in 16 starts.
