BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The murder trial of a woman whose 1-year-old son died after she left him for hours in a car on a sweltering June afternoon was postponed Monday to Nov. 18.
Judge Marcus Cuper set the new date after prosecutor Stephanie Taconi said she was in another trial in which a jury was continuing to deliberate.
Maya Hernandez, 20, is facing charges of murder and involuntary manslaughter. She remains in custody on $1.1 million bail.
Hernandez is accused of leaving her sons, 1 and 2, in a Toyota Corolla Hybrid on June 29 as she was getting a lip filler injection at a medical spa.
Temperatures reached up to 101 degrees in Bakersfield that afternoon.
One-year-old Amillio Gutierrez was taken to Adventist Health, where his body temperature was measured at 107 degrees. He
