A Magnolia police officer shot and wounded a man Sunday after the man fired at the officer, according to a news release from Arkansas State Police, who are investigating the use of deadly force.
The officer was patrolling South Fredrick Road around 1:40 p.m. when they encountered a 53-year-old Magnolia man who brandished a firearm at the officer and then fired it, the news release states. The release doesn't name the officer or the suspect.
The officer returned fire and shot the man multiple times, the release states. The man was taken to a Little Rock hospital and was still receiving treatment there Monday morning.
