The scandal involving Michael Proctor , who was fired by State Police for misconduct in the Karen Read case , may affect 19 additional cases he investigated, most of which are murder indictments, legal filings show.

The tally was included in an Oct. 30 ruling in one of the cases pending in Norfolk Superior Court: the murder case against Brian Walshe , who allegedly killed his wife and dismembered her in the couple’s Cohasset home in 2023.

Since Proctor’s misconduct in the Read investigation came to light, defense attorneys in other cases that he worked on have been given access to his phone data to search for evidence of possible bias on his part.
