AVONDALE, Ariz. — A West Valley high school is mourning the recent death of one its students.

Agua Fria High School announced Monday that Rhiana Kemplin, a senior who performed in the high school's band, had recently died. Medical examiner records show the 17-year-old girl died on Nov. 8.

Kemplin was described by school officials as having an "infectious energy and passion for music."

The Avondale school said extra support services will be offered on campus for students and staff struggling with the news of Kemplin's death.

An online fundraiser started after Kemplin's death states the teenager was "senselessly taken from us."

Avondale police responded to a shooting on Nov. 8 that resulted in the death of a 17-year-old girl. Police have not released the victim's name in that case. Ke
