UNC basketball , which started the 2025-26 season with its lowest preseason ranking in 20 years, is moving on up in the national polls.

The Tar Heels (2-0) improved from No. 25 in the USA TODAY Sports coaches poll on Oct 22 to No. 20 on Nov. 10. In the opening week of UNC's fifth season with head coach Hubert Davis, the Tar Heels blew out Central Arkansas before taking down then-No. 19 Kansas at the Smith Center.

Senior guard Seth Trimble is the leader of a group that includes 11 newcomers. Trimble will be out for the immediate future after sustaining a broken forearm injury on Nov. 9 during a team workout, but the Tar Heels showed their depth in Week 1.
