SAN JACINTO, Texas (KETK) -- The search for a father who jumped into the Trinity River to save his son and his friend after their kayak capsized has resumed on Monday morning. The two minors' bodies were recovered, but the father has not been found.
On Sunday, Texas Game Wardens in San Jacinto and Polk counties responded to the Trinity River south of Lake Livingston Dam after reports of a capsized kayak. The two minors were on a kayak when dangerous currents overturned it.
The father, a 53-year-old man, entered the water in an attempt to rescue his son and his son's best friend, ages 14 and 15. The father went underwater and did not resurface. Both minors were recovered Sunday evening; however, the search for the father was suspended overnight and resumed on Monday at 7 a.m.
