When U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy announced a 10% reduction in flights at 40 major U.S. airports last week, citing safety concerns as unpaid TSA officers and air traffic controllers called out of work, many travelers were stuck figuring out how to get from point A to point B.

In response, some have turned to other modes of transportation, including driving, taking intercity buses, and most notably, Amtrak. But the country’s busiest rail line, the Northeast Corridor, is now facing its own wave of cancellations— and this time the problem isn’t related to the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) flight reductions .
