FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. — Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced Monday that a permit has been filed allowing the state to continue managing the red snapper fishing season along the Atlantic Coast.

Held at the Amelia Island Marina in Fernandina Beach, DeSantis says that the Exempted Fishing Permit (EFP) was submitted by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission in hopes of "assuming management of the recreational red snapper fishery in state and federal waters" beginning in 2026.
