An inmate at the El Paso County Jail Annex was sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to a murder charge for his role as a lookout during the vicious beating death of another inmate two years ago.
Cristian Carrillo, now 27, was one of six inmates accused in the death of 57-year-old Jesus Torres , who was stabbed in the eye, strangled and brutally beaten inside his cell on Nov. 26, 2023.
Court records show his first name spelled as "Cristian" while a jail log shows it as "Christian."
The El Paso District Attorney's Office announced Carrillo's sentence on Friday, Nov. 7. District Attorney James Montoya declined to comment because the cases against the other defendants are pending.
Carrillo pleaded guilty to a murder charge and was sentenced on Nov. 4 by Judge Patricia
