WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — After nearly four decades of serving as a vital lifeline for those experiencing homelessness, the Bethesda Center for the Homeless is changing course.

The organization announced it will step back from administering citywide housing programs and instead pivot to providing emergency shelter and supportive resources that help individuals build stable, self-sufficient lives.

The change comes after years of Bethesda managing the Rapid Rehousing (RRH) and Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) programs, both HUD-funded, city-administered initiatives aimed at helping people move from homelessness into permanent housing.
