The PWHL is coming to Calgary … for one night, to start..
On Monday morning, it was announced that the Toronto Sceptres will face off against the Ottawa Charge on April 1 as part of the PWHL’s Takeover Tour.
The tour will see the women’s professional hockey league make stops in 16 cities across the U.S. and Canada for regular season games. This year’s version marks a significant expansion from last year’s tour, which saw nine games in neutral cities and drew 123,601 fans.
There have long been rumours that Calgary could be a frontrunner for a PWHL expansion team. The Calgary Inferno were among the most successful Canadian women’s professional teams during the 2010s in the CWHL, winning the championship in 2015-16 and 2018-19 before that league folded.
