A man was seriously injured after he confronted would-be masked thieves on bikes in the back garden of his home.

Detectives in Whitefield , Bury , have launched a major investigation and are now appealing for anyone with information or footage to get in touch.

Four youths who were riding electric Suron bikes are being hunted in connection with the incident, which happened in the early hours of Friday, November 7, on Hilltop Grove in Whitefield.

The Manchester Evening News understands a family were woken by noises in the back garden and saw the door of a garage had been ripped open. The four were in the garden.

The man, aged 59, went outside to confront them, but was attacked as he did so.
