PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The American Red Cross has unveiled new Emergency Response Vehicles (EVRs) designed to deliver relief and essential supplies to families affected by disasters.
The American Red Cross Rhode Island Region displayed the specialized units Monday at its Providence headquarters.
The organization is emphasizing the importance of year-round preparedness as hurricane season continues through the end of November.
Executive Director Susan Roberts said the Red Cross works closely with partners such as the Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency (RIEMA) to ensure readiness for a range of emergencies, from coastal flooding and house fires to tornadoes.
So far in 2025, the Red Cross has responded to nearly 200 disasters in Rhode Island and assisted 675 residents.
