Two of Iowa's Democratic U.S. Senate candidates are calling for Minority Leader Chuck Schumer to step down as Democratic leader after a group of Senate Democrats agreed to reopen the federal government without a guarantee of extending health care subsidies.
Eight Senate Democrats voted Nov. 9 to begin the process of ending the government shutdown after striking a deal with Republicans that does not include the extension of enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies — a key demand of Democratic leadership.
