Alex Singleton described himself as a “lucky man.”
On Monday morning, the Denver Broncos linebacker announced on social media that he had undergone successful surgery on Friday for testicular cancer after being diagnosed last week.
Singleton, who rose to CFL stardom over three years with the Calgary Stampeders between 2016 and 2018, played against the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday night before undergoing surgery to remove a cancerous tumour the next day.
“Thankfully, we believe the cancer was caught early with a great prognosis for me and my family,” Singleton said in a statement. “While we are still awaiting some additional test results, I fully expect to return to the field in the coming weeks.
