BALTIMORE —
The biggest names in rugby could be coming to M&T Bank Stadium.
The Maryland Sports Commission, in partnership with Visit Baltimore and the Baltimore Ravens, has submitted a bid to be a host city for the 2031 Rugby World Cup. Baltimore is one of 27 cities and 33 stadiums in contention to host games for the tournament, including nearby cities like Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia.
Baltimore hopes to attract the international event after being passed over to host games for next year's FIFA World Cup soccer tournament. Terry Hasseltine, president of the sports commission , said he feels Baltimore has a good shot to be selected this time around, especially since tournament officials have already visited M&T Bank Stadium.
