A 64-year-old Burlington man was killed in a fire early Saturday, Nov. 8, authorities said.
At 12:44 a.m., police, fire and EMS units responded to the 900 block of Beverly Road and found a duplex fully engulfed in flames, Burlington police said.
Kenneth Jones was unable to exit the residence and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The fire was eventually extinguished and the cause remains under investigation, police said.
A fundraiser has been set up to support Kenneth's wife, Vicki. Their dog Puddin, was also killed in the fire.
"Vicki is facing not only the loss of her husband and beloved pet, but all of her earthly belongings besides the clothes on her back," Danielle Herb, who organized the fundraiser said. "Vicki needs to completely rebuild her life, as well as provide services for her husband Kenny. Your donations will go directly to Vicki for whatever she may need, including but not limited to clothing, a vehicle, housing, and funeral expenses.
As of Monday, Nov. 10, almost $8,000 has been raised.
The fire does not appear to be suspicious, police said.
