Ace Frehley, guitarist and original member of KISS, died at 74 on Oct. 16, 2025.

Original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley's cause of death has reportedly been determined nearly a month after his death at 74 years old.

According to a report prepared by New Jersey's Morris County medical examiner's office, which was obtained by TMZ and People, Frehley's Oct. 16 death was ruled an accident.

The cause was blunt trauma injuries to his head due to a fall, the outlets reported.

USA TODAY has reached out to the medical examiner's office for comment.

A week before his death, on Oct. 7, Frehley canceled his remaining tour dates for 2025, citing "ongoing medical issues." The announcement came shortly after he was hospitalized for what was characterized as a "minor fall" in his studio.

On Oct. 16, the rocker's family said in a statement to USA TODAY that the musician was surrounded by his family in Morristown, New Jersey, when he passed.

"We are completely devastated and heartbroken. In his last moments, we were fortunate enough to have been able to surround him with loving, caring, peaceful words, thoughts, prayers and intentions as he left this earth," the statement read.

"We cherish all of his finest memories, his laughter, and celebrate his strengths and kindness that he bestowed upon others. The magnitude of his passing is of epic proportions, and beyond comprehension," the statement continued. "Reflecting on all of his incredible life achievements, Ace’s memory will continue to live on forever!"
